Catching Fish, Building Confidence
Fishing is about more than just baiting a hook. It's a hands-on way for kids to step away from screens, connect with the outdoors, and build real-world confidence. My private lessons offer patient, one-on-one instruction tailored to your child’s experience level. From mastering the perfect cast to untangling the basics of knot-tying, I provide a safe, encouraging environment where mistakes are just part of the learning process.
1. Gear & Safety Check
I start each session with a quick safety briefing and introduce the young anglers to their gear. I’ll get the rods rigged up and explain how the reel works so they feel comfortable before we even touch the water.
The Fishing Journey
2. Hands-On Practice
This is where the action happens! Kids get active practice casting safely, baiting hooks, rigging bobbers, and feeling for a bite. I stay right by their side to guide them step-by-step as they build real, independent skills.
3. Celebrating the Catch
Once a fish is on the line, we focus on safe handling and celebrating the moment! We'll snap plenty of photos for the parents, practice safe catch-and-release, and pack up any brand-new gear kits included in the starter package.

Keeping it Simple & Safe
Easy Scheduling
Lessons run Monday through Saturday. Because I carefully prep and customize gear for every single student, please book at least 12 hours in advance.
Flexible Cancellations
Life happens! Cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your scheduled lesson for a full refund or a hassle-free date swap.
Age & Parent Guidelines
Perfect for beginner anglers aged 6 to 14. To keep things safe and share in the fun, a parent or guardian must remain at the water's edge throughout the lesson.
Weather Safety First
We fish rain or shine! However, in the event of high winds, heavy downpours, or lightning within 30 minutes of our start time, I will contact you to immediately reschedule.
Lesson Locations & How We Meet
Where We Fish & How It Works
My lessons are based in the Wilmington, Massachusetts area and neighboring towns. Because we want to find the perfect, safe spot for your child, we have a very simple and flexible process for deciding exactly where to meet:
1. Choose Your Preferred Location
When booking a lesson online, you will see a 'Note to the Instructor' box. If you already have a favorite local pond, dock, or neighborhood water edge in mind, simply drop the name or address in the note!
2. Let Me Recommend a Great Spot
If you aren’t sure where the best local fishing spots are, don't worry! If you leave the note blank, I will reach out to you directly using the contact email or phone number you provided during booking. I’ll ask about your child's experience level and recommend a fantastic, safe, and easily accessible local pond nearby.
3. Meeting at the Water's Edge
Once we finalize our location, I’ll send you a quick confirmation message. On the day of the lesson, we will meet directly at the designated parking area or entrance of the pond, get the gear ready, and head to the water together!
